LICORICE Consortium Meets in Heraklion to Prepare for the Project’s Final Year

October 20-21, 2026 | Heraklion, Greece

The LICORICE consortium gathered in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, for its General Assembly, bringing partners together to review progress, coordinate ongoing activities and prepare for the project’s final year.

With the project entering its final phase, the meeting focused on ensuring that the remaining objectives, technical developments and planned activities are on track, while strengthening the pathway towards the future use of LICORICE results.

Reviewing technical progress and pilot activities
Partners reviewed the work carried out so far, discussing progress across the project’s technical developments and pilot activities. Particular attention was given to the application of privacy-preserving technologies in eHealth and Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), two key areas in which LICORICE aims to enable trusted data use while protecting sensitive information.
The discussions provided an opportunity to assess the work completed, align partners on ongoing tasks and identify priorities for the remaining project period.

Looking beyond the project: Exploitation of results
The General Assembly also addressed the future exploitation of LICORICE results, recognising that technical progress must be accompanied by a clear pathway towards practical uptake.
Partners discussed how the project’s technologies and outcomes could create value beyond the project’s lifetime, including their potential relevance to organisations working with sensitive health data, cybersecurity information and digital identity solutions.
This focus on exploitation helps connect the project’s technical developments with potential applications, users and opportunities for wider adoption.

Preparing the LICORICE Workshop
Another important focus was the preparation of the workshop “Advancing Privacy-Preserving Technologies in Health and Cybersecurity”, held in Heraklion on 22 October 2026.
The workshop provided a platform to explore the practical application of privacy-preserving technologies and gather perspectives on their usability and relevance in real-world settings. Its programme addressed scenarios spanning eHealth and cybersecurity, helping connect LICORICE’s technical work with stakeholder needs and practical challenges.

Moving towards impact
The General Assembly reinforced the importance of coordination across the consortium as LICORICE approaches its final year. Partners worked towards a shared objective: ensuring that the project’s results are not only developed, but also positioned for meaningful use beyond the project’s lifetime.

LICORICE continues to advance privacy-preserving digital solutions that support trusted data sharing, stronger data protection and greater control over digital identities.
