Join LICORICE’s Usability Workshop Online: Advancing Privacy-Preserving Technologies in Health and Cybersecurity
How can we protect sensitive data without compromising usability, trust or the ability to make informed decisions? Join LICORICE virtually, 22 October 2026, to explore this question through real-world healthcare and cybersecurity scenarios!
The Horizon Europe project LICORICE invites healthcare professionals, cybersecurity experts, researchers, technology developers and other interested stakeholders to take part in two interactive usability evaluation workshops, taking place in Crete, Greece, with online participation available.
The workshops will go beyond presentations to explore how privacy-preserving technologies work in practice. Through guided visual walkthroughs, live polling and moderated discussions, participants will evaluate real-world workflows, discuss privacy and usability trade-offs, and provide feedback that will help shape the LICORICE solutions before field deployment.
Exploring privacy-preserving technologies in healthcare
The eHealth workshop will examine how privacy-preserving technologies can support both patient autonomy and clinical decision-making. Participants will follow the patient journey through remote health monitoring, authentication using the uSelf Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) wallet and the management of dynamic permissions for sharing health data. The session will then move to the clinician’s perspective, demonstrating how privacy-preserving neural network inference (pp-NNI) can support AI-based risk assessment while enabling clinicians to review explainable AI predictions.
The discussion will focus on how clearly patients can understand and manage consent, how clinicians receive and interpret system feedback, and what is needed to make these workflows usable and trustworthy in healthcare settings.
Protecting sensitive data in cybersecurity investigations
The ppCTI workshop will focus on the challenges cybersecurity analysts face when using external AI capabilities during sensitive incident investigations. Participants will explore how analysts can select and activate privacy policies before sharing Cyber Threat Intelligence with external large language models (LLMs). They will also see how raw queries can be transformed into anonymised queries, examine the boundaries between local and external data processing, and discuss how AI-generated results should be verified before operational decisions are made.
Your feedback can help shape the solutions
Both workshops follow a scenario-driven, 60-minute format. Rather than simply observing demonstrations, participants will actively contribute to the evaluation using Mentimeter on their smartphones. Live polls will capture their views on usability, consent and policy clarity, privacy trade-offs, system feedback, error recovery and operational trust. Moderated discussions after each scenario will give participants the opportunity to explain their assessments, raise concerns and compare perspectives with other stakeholders.
The sessions will conclude with a synthesis of the feedback and an explanation of how the findings will inform subsequent usability testing in the field.
By taking part, participants will gain a practical understanding of how technologies such as SSI wallets, privacy-preserving neural network inference and privacy-preserving LLM workflows can be applied in sensitive operational environments. Just as importantly, they will have an opportunity to influence the design of user interfaces and workflows before the solutions progress towards field testing.

Making privacy-preserving technologies work in practice requires more than technical performance. Solutions must also reflect the needs of the people who use them, the risks they face and the decisions they need to make.
Whether you work in healthcare, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital identity, data protection or privacy-enhancing technologies, your perspective can help LICORICE develop solutions that are more usable, secure and trustworthy.
Join us virtually on 22 October 2026 and help shape the future of privacy-preserving technologies.
