University of Murcia (UMU) is a public University located in the south of Spain, with around 38,000 students and a teaching and research staff of about 3,200 spread over 5 university campuses, with 21 Faculties and 4 Affiliated Centres. UMU offers top-quality education and innovative research in 54 Bachelor’s Degrees, 75 Master’s Degrees and 34 Ph.D. Programmes. The GSIT research group has participated in numerous EU projects from FP5 to Horizon Europe with strong expertise in security and privacy, such as OLYMPUS, ERATOSTHENES or CERTIFY. In these, UMU has designed and implemented secure data sharing mechanisms and privacy-preserving identity management solutions, in line with the two LICORICE pillars.

Role in LICORICE'S PROJECT

UMU leads WP3, (in particular T3.1 and T3.2), taking advantage of its strong experience in scientific management of identity management and data sharing solutions to coordinate the analysis of barriers and threats on digital sovereignty, using it as a baseline for the definition of research goals and end-user-oriented requirements for developing the respective toolsets. Additionally, UMU participates in WP4 and WP5 by leading the tasks related to privacy-preserving technologies for the digital identity wallet, addressing privacy concerns while aligning with the EUDI wallet landscape. Particularly, UMU develops a tool based on privacy-preserving Attribute-Based Credentials (pABC), which offers minimal disclosure and unlinkability through zero-knowledge proofs. On the other side, UMU participates in WP6 and WP7 by providing a tool for privacy-preserving Cyber-Threat Information (CTI) sharing, thanks to the use of anonymization techniques and MISP as a sharing platform. Lastly, UMU will collaborate in integration and piloting activities and continue its strong involvement in scientific dissemination through the publication of scientific results and the organization of dissemination events.
