The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology is Austria's largest non-university research institute, focusing on topics like Energy, Low-Emission Transport, or Digital Safety & Security. The institute's Centre for Digital
Safety & Security has over 200 experts developing state-of-the-art information and communication technologies to ensure that our systems are highly secure and reliable in the context of comprehensive
digitization and global networking. The Centre focuses on key technology areas including: Distributed IT systems and the Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber Security for IT and Industrial Control Systems, State-ofthe-art cryptographic methods (including Post Quantum Cryptography and Privacy-Enhancing Technologies) and Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Blockchain Technologies.
Role in LICORICE
AIT's cryptography group has profound experience in national and European projects in the context ofdigital identities (e.g., H2020 CREDENTIAL, FFG PREPARED) or federated computation on sensitive data (e.g., FFG SlotMachine, SESAR HARMONIC), which are also the two main areas of research for AIT within LICORICE. In particular, the team is leading the work packages related to the development of privacypreserving solutions and prototypes (WP6 and WP7), especially focusing on verifiable computation onsensitive data using techniques such as secure multi-party computation and zero-knowledge proofs.
Furthermore, as a research and technology organization, AIT publishes its results in peer-reviewed
conferences and journals in the respective fields. Finally, AIT is actively contributing to the standardization
activities in LICORICE.
